2009 Judge - Alex Rheault

Alex Rheault lives in Portland, Maine with her husband Michael and two cats where she draws, collects, writes, and collaborates. Rheault is a local artist, arts educator, and advocate for learning and literacy of all kinds. Rheault founded drawing room in 2006 as an extension of her art practice to merge community and drawing in new ways; now nomadic it continues to expand experiences and definitions of art through collaboration.

Rheault is Chair of the Illustration Department at Maine College of Art since 2008. Rheault received her MFA in Visual Art from Vermont College in, completed the photography track at Salt Institute for Documentary Studies, and received her BFA in Illustration from Parsons School of Design. Rheault serves on the boards of the Salt and the Carlo Pittore Foundation.
